Free Online Session, October 25: The Feldenkrais Training Academy—Connecting Know-How & Know-What

Connecting Know-How & Know-What for Professional Skills & Deep Understanding

A talk with Feldenkrais Training Academy Educational Director Jeff Haller, PhD, and Trainer Roger Russell

Sunday, October 25, 10am–12pm PT

Online via Feldenkrais First

Curious about becoming a Feldenkrais Practitioner? Join us for a series of free online sessions with Educational Director Jeff Haller and Trainer Roger Russell about the Feldenkrais Training Academy 2, the practitioner training program beginning in Seattle in July 2027.

A Feldenkrais professional training begins by exploring how we move—each of these online sessions will begin with an Awareness Through Movement® lesson. The lessons open a door for probing the thinking processes that support the understanding of how Feldenkrais lessons work. The insights provided by experience and understanding enables us to grasp the depth of opportunities in the Feldenkrais body of work. We'll discuss what it’s like to be a Feldenkrais Practitioner, applications of the Feldenkrais Method, training curriculum, case studies, and answer your question

These sessions are a great way to get to know FTA2 staff and your potential co-trainees. Recordings will be available.

October 25: Connecting Know-How and Know-What for Professional Skills and Deep Understanding

Connecting the experiential know-how of teaching with theory (know-what) functions best if we understand something about understanding. For a professional, this demands clear thinking, all of the necessary facts and a road map for connecting the dots.

In this session, we will map out clear thinking about Feldenkrais lessons by naming seven dimensions of understanding. This clarifies the balance between:

  • Knowing the necessary facts;
  • Clear thinking;
  • An explicit frame of values including honesty and humility in our teaching;
  • Being comfortable with complexity;
  • Second-order curiosity;
  • Intellectual integrity.

This provides us with a framework for a deeper look at what we need to know in the next session in December.
