Grounded Within: The Anatomy of Resilience invites students to reclaim a sense of safety in their bodies and minds. With shorter Awareness Through Movement® lessons and weekly talks, Dan offers practical tools and support to work with uncomfortable experiences in the present moment: addressing a broad range of challenges including chronic pain, racing thoughts, and difficult memories or emotions as they may arise during ATM® lessons. These experiences become a training ground for bringing the same practices into daily life, fostering a sense of grounded resilience.

These classes are open to all, and may be particularly valuable for those who have dealt with anxiety, panic attacks, or who have otherwise found themselves having great difficulty with their body’s sensations—those who feel “on high alert” or, conversely, those who often feel disconnected from their embodied experience.

Each session provides a subtle, profound opportunity to become more grounded, to inhabit one’s body in a way that feels safer, more integrated.

  • Find a safer-feeling experience of your body that will allow you to tune into the body without going into a state of high-alert.
  • Learn to tune into the body in ways that avoid feeling overwhelmed by pain signals.
  • Find new access to feeling grounded which allows for greater ease throughout one’s system.
  • Learn an exit ramp from “chasing pain,” and dig down a level deeper to working your body’s foundational protective responses.
  • Join others in a supportive approach to teaching ATM that can be more accessible to people dealing with challenging events in their history including those with panic attacks or PTSD.
  • Build capacity for being with difficult thoughts or emotions without tipping into overwhelm.
